too old to worry about anything

I am from North Norway, grew up in Harstad. Some tips:
I would drive up north trough sweden:
Quickest and better roads trough the cost of sweden, then cross over trough Kiruna (This is also a fantastic area by the way) Make sure to stop and buy food in Kiruna.
More scenic option is trough Middle sweden, "mellomrikveien", trough Karlstad - Mora - Ostersund - Storuman - Jokkmokk - Gallivare - Kiruna, then over to Narvik.
Or cross over from Ostersund to Trondheim and north trough E6. That will be a bit more expensive
Definately skip anything south of Trondheim, unless you plan to drive trough the west of Norway. East Norway isn't very interesting (Oslo - Trondheim). Its really the north and the west of Norway that is beautiful.
This is the route I usually take: https://www.google.se/maps/dir/Amsterda ... 986342!3e0
Lofoten and Vesteralen is offcource great, and should not be missed if not been before. But there are other places with less tourists that are just as awesome. Lofoten tend to be "infested" in high season at least, as everyone know about it.
- Senja, beautiful island a little further north. A pearl, been there for salmon fishing many time. Excellent for both fresh water and sea fishing. https://goo.gl/maps/N4weRQneTaCGaEzv6
- Steigen, beatiful area on the way up to Lofoten https://goo.gl/maps/rkX8UUgQPireGbNu6
- Hinnøya, the largest Island in norway. The one you cross before heading towards lofoten. Drive towards Harstad to fill up on groceries etc, and drive around on the other side. Beautiful mountains, and lots of nice places for camp for free, without having to compete with allot of German campers. The midnight sun at "Nupen" is legendary. You can see it dip in the sea, and then up again. Popular spot among locals to watch the midnight sun.
https://goo.gl/maps/t6bMC1s7c5Yp9gdS8
- Nupen lookout spot https://goo.gl/maps/YsAu6p3nJxqvhuJ9A
- Andøya - Interesting Island, and here NASA got a launch station. https://goo.gl/maps/Fy3z2V7X3DjXvY1DA
The area around Tromsø is also nice, and Tromsø can be an interesting little city (largest in the north)
Further north towards Nordkapp it gets quite flat, unless you want to visit the fishing towns and Sami settlements or really want to go on the Nordkapp Platoe, I'd probably skip that far north. Some of the best Salmon rivers in Norway are up there though. The mosquitos on the Finmark Platoe (Finnmarksvidda)are some of the largest in the world. https://www.nrk.no/finnmark/derfor-klor ... 1.13617240
But Lofoten Islands, Væsterålen, and the Islands in Troms are fantastic. You could spend a full summer exploring this area, and still want to come back to see more of it.
God I miss home ........
Next year I plan 6 week trip up there during school holiday.
