Eindhoven: environmental zone?
Hi- I'm a Canadian traveling in a Dutch integral camper (2001 Hymer B654; euro class 3, 3.5t). I need to go into Eindhoven but I see an environmental zone. Looks like it might not apply to a motorhome. Does anyone know if I can enter? Thanks!

Re: Eindhoven environmental zone ?
Hello,
The municipality of Eindhoven has information on their website:
https://www.eindhoven.nl/stad-en-wonen/ ... milieuzone
(in Dutch, but you can use google translate)
In short: The environmental zone only applies to bus and trucks, over 3.5t
<3.5t: no issues
>3.5t: Euro 4 or higher required

Re: Eindhoven environmental zone ?
Thank you. I wasn't sure if a motorhome would be classified as a truck or not.

Re: Eindhoven environmental zone ?
In NL a motorhome can be either a passenger car, no limitations in Eindhoven or it is a truck, the above weight limitations apply.
Check the registration card of your motorhome, on the rear it says 'voertuigcategorie' (item J) a M1 or M1/SA means your motorhome is registered as a passengercar. Anything else, the above limitations apply.

Thanks, it says N1, so I assume I can't enter?

Re: Eindhoven: environmental zone?
I clicked on "apply for an exemption" on the Eindhoven page.
It then asks for my plate number, then this pops up :
"You do not need to have an exemption for access to an environmental zone for this vehicle."
So I guess I can enter.
All very confusing to a non-European!

Re: Eindhoven: environmental zone?
You can, since it's still below the weight limit of 3.5t
At the moment, there are no restictions for vehicles <3.5t
On the back, F2 'Toegestane max massa' (Allowed max weight) termines the classification: If thats <3.5t you're good.
>3.5t also requires a different driving license (Altough I'm not sure how this applies to international drivers licenses)
And to make things even worse, some countries (like france) have variable environmental zones also, depending on the polution... A road trip will require you to do some massive studying
ow and a tip: Don't look at the petrol station terminal... or even try to calculate the price/gallon... you will feel miserable

Agree.. different cities, different regulations.

Re: Eindhoven: environmental zone?
You can have N1 on your registrationcard, truck. But the total mass, item F.2, is 3.500kg or below, you may enter. Or your environmental class, item V.9, is Euro5 or Euro 6, you may enter.
And yes this is tricky material for those not custom to Dutch law.

Re: Eindhoven: environmental zone?
Thanks everyone. I have had campers in Europe since 1990, but the previous 3 had Canadian registration (I shipped them over). In 2007 I got a German green umweltzoneplakette for 2004 Winnebago Rialta with a petrol VW engine. This Hymer is registered as 3.5t and has a gelb German umweltzoneplakette, so in Germany I know exactly where I can enter the rules are uniform. I have a French #4 Crit d'Air and have to check daily stats there. Belgium is city-specific and to a certain extent apparently so is NL. You've all been very helpful - bedankt!
